The Most Beneficial Free Personality Test I’ve Found

Personality tests fascinate me, but they rarely offer much return for my time.

Pretty much all the Facebook-shared personality tests are just for fun and give no truly useful information. The Meyers-Briggs test seems ok, but the results are never particularly useful to me. Plus, nearly every time I take it I seem to be a different personality type. Last night, however, I was finally turned on to the first truly useful free personality test I’ve tried.

The DISC Test is brief and offers a high information return.

It only takes about 15 minutes or so to do the DISC test. Every question is a drag-and-drop style task of ordering words/phrases from “most like you” to “least like you”. In the end, you receive a 54 page long PDF document with your results. Yeah, that’s right. I said fifty-four pages.

The DISC Test results are full of practical application.

This test rates you on a variety of topics. The main psychological points they cover are aesthetic, economic, individualistic, political, altruist, regulatory, and theoretical. Based on these, they discuss how you communicate in your natural state vs. when you know you’re being watched. They talk about your strengths and weaknesses in your dealings with other people. These results also include a section written especially for employers so that they can understand how best to interact with you. On top of that, there are suggestions about what work environments will be the most agreeable to you as well as suggestions on self-improvement.
